Jennifer Danek, MD is the senior director for health initiatives at the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities (USU). She is responsible for USU’s programmatic and policy agenda to improve health and reduce health disparities in cities. Over the past 6 years, she led Urban Universities for HEALTH, a partnership with the Association of American Medical Colleges Centers and the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities to increase the use of data and metrics by universities to develop a diverse and culturally competent health workforce. The collaborative conducted a number of national studies and produced evidence-based tools and resources for leaders. Dr. Danek has a long-standing commitment to education, and has authored two popular books to assist students to be successful and to develop themselves holistically in the process of becoming physicians. She continues to serve as an attending physician at the University of Washington Northwest Hospital, and is board certified in internal medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco and completed residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle.
