Next Steps

In November 2019, all participating schools received an individualized summary report with an analysis of their social mission scores.

Currently, our team is working to validate the Social Mission Metrics tool both internally and externally. The internal validation will help assess the social mission indicators and how predictive they are of social mission. The external validation will analyze how the the social mission metrics survey measures certain social mission outcomes. Additionally, by reviewing feedback and meeting with a purposive sample of participating school leaders, we are assessing the impact of the Social Mission Metrics Initiative had on participating schools.

We are continuing to develop the Social Mission Metrics tool based on feedback from the Self-Assessment, internal validation, and input from the National Advisory Committee. Our goal is to identify a handful of questions and indicators predictive of social mission.

While our short-term goals are focused on developing a tool to measure social mission, our long-term goal is to refine and produce a tool for institutions to track and measure their health equity progress.
This initiative is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
