Dr. Batra is responsible for program development and strategic initiatives related to the project. She is a practicing physician and assistant professor in The George Washington University's Department of Emergency Medicine. Her primary areas of interest are health professions education, community engagement, and social mission.
Dr. Batra serves in a variety of capacities in the public and private sectors. She currently works primarily in graduate medical education, serving as associate residency director for The George Washington University Emergency Medicine Residency and as global health faculty for the department’s post-graduate training programs across India. Dr. Batra is particularly interested in diversifying the healthcare workforce and has worked on several pipeline programs for high school students across Washington, D.C. who are interested in entering the health professions. Dr. Batra has been involved with the Beyond Flexner Alliance since 2014 when she co-directed the Beyond Flexner 2015 Conference. She received her bachelor of arts in psychology and medical degree from Northwestern University. She completed residency in emergency medicine at The George Washington University. Between undergraduate and medical school, Dr. Batra spent two years teaching middle school science with Teach for America. During that time, she earned a Master’s of Science in Teaching (MST) from Pace University in New York City.
